“Abundance” was a special exhibit at the “Voices in Cloth” South African International Quilt Festival 2024 held at Pietermaritzburg near Durban South Africa from 4-9 July 2024.  57 quilts from India were accorded a special space.   The Consul General of India in Durban, Dr Thelma John David was a special invitee and she visited the Indian pavilion and sent in her compliments to all the quilters whose quilts were in the show.

“Abundance” was part of Bharat Week and Bharat Utsav hosted by the Consul General of India in Durban Dr Thelma John David.  The display was at India House, Durban, celebrating textiles, arts, crafts from India.  “Abundance” quilts were part of festivities celebrating India’s Independence Day in Durban, South Africa

Quilts from the Abundance collection went to Kenya after two shows in South Africa.   This marked a significant moment in India's modern quilting history.  For the first time a group of art quilts from India travelled overseas for three shows.  The Kenya Quilt Guild hosted these quilts from 6th to 8th September 2024 at the convention centre in Nairobi.

9th Annual Conference on Peace and Reconciliation, Chennai

QIF had displayed 5 quilts at the 9th ‘Annual Conference on Peace and Reconciliation’ at Chennai, and one of the quilts was purchased by a generous attendee. The proceeds were then donated to the Sri RKM Sarada Vidyalaya Skill Development Centre to help subsidise the sewing course fee for the underprivileged. The quilt itself was a lovely, group project.

The Tree of Life – represents the interconnectedness of all living beings who share the resources and space available on earth.  The bumble bee is as important as the serpent and the bat and the squirrel.  Each organism has its place in the ecosystem.  This Art Quilt was made by a group of around twenty five quilters from Chennai during the covid pandemic.
